What Is the Goal of My Writing?

In short?  To help people discover both the new and the familiar through enjoyable, informative content that radiates from the heart of its subject.

That could mean exploring with blog readers the muse of a local rock band. Or revealing a painter’s inspiration through a magazine piece. Perhaps it’s about connecting a potential customer with a company’s mission statement by way of an “About Us” page.  Whoever the client and whatever the work they hire me to do, my mission is to put a reader in contact with the life force of a subject, and add details and nuance from there. In my writing, I strive to marry that which is recognizable to readers with that which is new, informative, or exciting.

Experience

I’ve served as an op-ed columnist, blogger, newspaper reporter, radio copywriter, web columnist, magazine contributor, playwright and speechwriter among other things.

Topics have ranged from charities to orchestras to motocross and rock bands, to writing itself, advice for actors and introversion. With enough research time, I can write with intelligence on most subjects, but consider the arts, theatre in particular, my specialty. I’m also adept at political commentary.

Rates and Payment

Every project is different, so the cost of each project will vary. To determine that price, you’ll need to answer a series of questions for me, and chat with me a bit about your needs. A single phone call or a series of emails is usually sufficient for this.  After our consultation, I’ll take certain things into consideration, such as expected hours spent, the deadline, the amount of research involved, revisions and other contingencies. I’ll then provide you with a flat price quote within 24 hours. Please note that outside of extraordinary circumstances, the price I quote will not be increased during the project.

If you accept my quote and we decide to work together, I’ll send you a contract stipulating all we have discussed.

In most cases 50% of the total quote will be due before I begin any work. Once my initial work is completed you it will be sent to you, at which point the remaining 50% of the total price will be due.

You are entitled to one free revision. All revisions thereafter will cost an additional 20% of the originally quoted price. A total rewrite of the piece will cost an additional 75% of the original quoted price.
